This goes only for the 5" thick version of this - AND IT WAS 5" (Haven't tried any of the other thicknesses)I chose this to review for my first Amazon review (long-time customer) because I'm so enthusiastic about this chunk 'o foam!If you're a tall, big man with back troubles like me - don't listen to the namby pamby's who gave it 1 star.I got it, and like one of the 4 star reviewers, you just wait a couple of days without putting any load on it or sniffing at it,and you'll have a REAL NICE, FIRM, back-relieving mattress! Follow instructions-Don't use a razor knife to open it- foam will bias on you.The CUT of the mattress wasn't bad, and the size is a GENEROUS QUEEN I ordered - seemed waaay too small first, now it's almost too big.The smell certainly WASN'T like cat pee, more woody than pee-like (after airing out)NOW I put a couple of 3" hard pink foam boards underneath and zipped it up into a zippered queen BOX SPRING cover (cheaper, without the nasty, crinkly vinyl liner)I am in HEAVEN now - I would describe it as extra-firm, therapeutic.For $100 bucks, when I was CRUSHING those inexpensive queens repeatedly, this is a BARGAIN.I KNOW it will last at least a year. I'm 400lbs.BYW: If there are two people in it- it's firm enough you certainly WON'T get a hill between OR on either side of you- THAT'Show firm it is - don't think yellow, soft foam, it'll mush in - this WON'T - excellent quality!

I bought this assuming that it would be firm mattress pad and would help my back. Initially when I got this, i was really happy. The topper was realy firm and was good support to my back but as I have used it over last few months, i feel the topper has lost it firmness.

It arrived folded length wise and rolled up in a box.Once unpacked it took a number of hours to expand to it's full size.The final dimensions were a bit less than 80x60x5 and not completely uniform.Roughly the length was between 77 and 78", the width was around 59" and the height was around 4.5".The mattress is manufactured by the Carpenter Company:[...]The mattress feels nice and firm, but not harsh, and the material seems to be of decent density and quality.I use this as the base layer of my "custom" mattress.On top of it I have a 3" memory foam topper and I have it enclosed in an 8" velour zippered cover.I've had it in use for a few days now, and it's wonderful.
