I'll start by saying that I've had this mattress almost two months now. The description for this says "medium-firm", however I'd venture to say this is more on the firm side than anything. When it first arrived, you could crack skulls using this instead of stones, and I contacted the seller who was courteous, but insisted it takes 3 weeks to break the mattress in. Well, they were right, but I'd say more like a solid month, month and a half. Consider this as well, you only sleep on one side of the bed and usually in the same spot, so only that section will soften up. I purchased bags of sand from a hardware store to place on the hard side, but it didn't work. What DID work was getting up and walking on the mattress, so if there is EVER a reason to let your kids jump on the bed, this is it!!!You can easily tell this is a quality memory foam mattress and is very comparable to the $5k version offering the same features. (IF you compare this with FIRM mattresses) The only "feature" I don't necessarily think is effective is the cooling layer. I've found myself waking up very hot even though it's 60 degrees in the room. Other reviewers for the queen sized version mentioned getting thin mattress toppers to help with the firmness and cooling, but isn't that what the top layer on this is for?Bottom Line:Back-Sleepers, you'll love itSide-Sleepers, give it some time, it does get better but you have to make it that far first.

Pros: Good price, firm enough for those with back pain, does not retain heat, conforms to bodyCons: So far...None.I bought this memory foam mattress because my 18 months twin girls want to snuggle in with me at bed time. The old queen size mattress was too small for the four of us.The next day I took a nap during the day and I slept like a baby for 3 hours straight, waking up feeling so refresh. The mattress is firm enough to straighten my spine, since I have back pain, but conforms to my body, especially when I'm on my side. I don't feel the heat at all, possibly because the top layer was made of cool gel memory foam?When the mattress arrived, it took about 30 minutes for the mattress to expand to 13 inches, then it took a couple of hours for it to grow to 14 inches. When we rolled it out, my husband asked me which side was the length, and my answer was "I don't know". It looked like a square bed to me. It took us about 10 minutes to figure it out. The mattress appears to have more sleeping surface than the conventional innerspring mattresses. It also looks like an expensive mattress to me.My husband was the only one who noticed that it was quite smelly at first, since he is quite sensitive to odors. But we too understand that it is a must for any type of conventional memory foams. For me, I did not smell anything until my husband mentioned it to me. To get rid of the odor, I opened all of the windows in my bedroom and took the sheets off any time we were not sleeping on it. The odor is almost gone after 4 day.All I can say is that this is a real deal. Before buying this one, we tried out Serta Icomfort at JC penney, Sears, Macy's, the quality is almost the same, at least to us, but the price is almost 4 times as much.For those with back pain, I highly recommend this Cool Breeze GEL Memory Foam Mattress, since it is firm enough to help straighten your spine, but can adapt to your body's contours.I forgot to mention that now I can sneak out of the bed without the twins knowing it. The old bed squeaked and shook a bit whenever I moved, but this one is pretty quiet and stable.I'm waiting for the odor to be completely gone so that my husband can join in with us during the weekend.So far we have had very good experiences with the mattress. I love it, looks like the twins also love it. I hope that the mattress can stand the test of time. I do think that it will.

We let this mattress air out in an extra bedroom for 3 whole weeks before we even dared to sleep on it, it smelled so bad. Then it seemed alright, a bit smelly, but very comfortable (hence two stars). My back aches went away, which I liked, and we slept well. But we woke up with headaches sometimes, and my wife started suffering from very bad allergies.Two months after purchase we got back from a 10 day trip. Upon returning we found the smell in our bedroom overwhelming. My wife literally slept on the couch that night. So we decided enough was enough and returned the thing. Dynasty's customer service hadn't called me back the week we got it when I called to complain about the smell. Once I got Amazon involved, their customer service was very good and the mattress is now gone. It's not easy to pack up a 130 lb. mattress though, and I spent $40 on bags to pack it in and $225 in shipping. But now it's gone and I have a natural mattress from Bedrooms and More in Seattle. Look 'em up if you don't like chemical smells...==================two months after returning, someone from Dynasty contacted me and stated that the mattress had been tested and was indeed defective, so they are refunding my return shipping costs as well. That was indeed a pleasant surprise. It was contingent on me changing the rating on my review, so I guess you can interpret the 4 stars accordingly. I had given it two stars prior to the promised refund :)
