I was hoping to replace a matelesse coverlet I've had for several years that had started to show it's age. From the photos and description it appeared the King Charles was the correct match. While the King Charles is indeed a fine Matelesse, it falls short in that there is no centre medallion as would be expected for a fine quality piece, only a large plain field of pillowing. The bordering does not fall evenly across a king size bed and the fold-over panel for the pillows is far too narrow to cover properly. Basically, the geometry of the coverlet is incorrectly laid out for a standard king size bed. An overall photo of the coverlet would have been helpful, but may not have red-flagged the dimensional problems. I'll keep looking for a better option.

This is a very pretty, gorgeous bedspread (coverlet), very soft, and pleasantly heavy (probably not ideal for the hottest of summers, but perfect for everything else). This truly feels like a very high-quality, high-end product. It's also the perfect size for a king size bed that has a relatively low base and mattress.Note: The image shown for birch might actually be ivory (I'm currently checking with Amazon)--I thought birch would be browner than what I received, so I think I received ivory.
