I have a hard enough time putting thought together let alone a day bed, but this was actually quite easy to do. I even did it all by myself. I'm amazed how sturdy the bed is. I've read that day beds don't need box springs just the top mattress....I would recommend a box spring or a board that covers the slats because if not, the mattress might droop a little between the slats. No matter, this was a nice buy at nice price
